In your presence hastly I sip all my defeats
I don’t have enough time for tribulations

Sustainable development: How to use the present resource without affecting the future generation. I say that because we have to think about a futute.

Life is like school
Everyday is now
Life is like a paint
And the day is a brush
Paint something to amuse people.

If you are foreign, be polite.

Sometimes I wish I was a bird who could just fly free. Make my home where I would like to be…without emigration, officers and visa in travel documents.

How are you? Nice to meet you. My name is Ibrahim. I come from Eritrea.

I believe the history of mankind is the history of migration. One can hark back to 50,000 years ago when our ancesters left the East African valley to populate the world. So for me migration is instinctive. We are people on the move.

Thank you to the Migration Museum for bringing into the light ad giving flight to some hidden histories in Glasgow's story of migration. Extraodinary to see the images of West African natives 'being exhibited' in Kelvingrove Park at 1911 Scottish Exhibition. Particular, poignant to reflect on that at this moment in time, after the dialogues and international collaborations that were part of the cultural programme for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.
Migration: a liminal space, a place of uncertainity, where travellers need to be blessed with the gifts of courage, hope and a belief that where-ever they land they will be accepcted by the flock and find the gentle nest of friendship.

Migration means an impression of cultures whether it be injected into your homeland or spread elsewhere.
Personally migration signifies various branches of my family who had to leave the North of Scotland at the start of the 1900s due to lack of work in Caithness. They went to Australia, New Zealand and Patagonia (Argentina). On the other side of my family, members moved to Canada & New Zealand after WW2. My Great Aunt took a boat to NZ a week after having her second child. These sections of my family in far off lands continue to celebrate their Scottish cultural heritage and I have enjoyed travelling to different countires to meet them & learn of my families history.

Migration to me is the bringing together of ideas and cultures that makes living in the same place for any length of time more exciting and enriching. Food, music and ideas.

I am a first generation migrant to Scotland - my parents are from France and Singapore and I have dual nationality with Brazil, so I still have memories of the journey to Scotland from the bright tropics to the flat grey cold. I also migrated out of Scotland and went back to the tropics, drawn to the sun, the heat and the smells of the equator. As a migrant I have always been on the outside, watching the rooted ones; my life has been a search for that imagined feeling of belonging. As a migrant descended from generations of other migrants I came rootless into the world. I am always looking for a place to nest; I am always making nests in unstable places on the edges of things.
As a migrant maybe my home is just me, small, portable and perchable.
